The Qingdao (Red Island) Railway Station is the departure station of the Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway line (HSR) and of the Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway. In the future, there will be four traffic routes converging here, making this the eastern railway junction for Shangdong Province.
The vision of this design is to make good use of the three-dimensional spaces, including the underground passage of the station buildings, the elevated pedestrian walkway, and the business center aboveground; to link the north and south squares and “sew together” the broken urban space disrupted by the railway. 
Secondly, to gather the transfer points of various transportation systems into a single traffic junction to function as a “zero-transfer” interchange. 
Thirdly, the project will involve the construction of a large-scale urban complex with the High-speed Railway station building serving as the main body. 
Fourth,the design will provide travelers with full ocean views of beautiful Jiaozhou Bay through effective height controls of the peripheral buildings and a well-structured spatial axis.
Finally, using the shape and theme of a wave as the formative image to express the characteristic qualities of this coastal city.
